After years of camping, using back packs and car trailers, then caravanning in the UK and Europe, when the millenium came we decided it might be time to settle down. So we bought a "Holiday Home" (in the UK it is known as a "static caravan") And we settled in a place that is just one hour's drive from home. And we wondered why we had not featured it on this web-site. So here goes---

Newhaven is in Derbyshire, at the junction of the A515 and A5012.
It is within the Peak District National Park, in the area known as the "White Peak".
This is excellent walking country: Dovedale, Hartington, Stanton Moor, Manifold valley are just some of the well-known areas of beauty.
The towns of Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock and Ashbourne are within easy reach, as are Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall and so on.
If you are interested in Industrial Archeology, then Cromford, site of Arkwrights mill, (the world's first factory), and the Crich Tramway Museum can be visited, as well as several quarry and mining museums.
The ancient market town of Wirksworth is currently the location for the television series "Sweet Medicine".
Then, you could go cycling along the 25 miles or so of cycle track created after the closure of the High peak railway.
