My name is Thomas Harrison McKnight III, and I live in my home town of Memphis, Tennessee. I was browsing the web and found your web site. I am my family's genealogist and through my McKnight line, we can only trace back to 1817 when my gg-grandfather Francis Harrison McKnight was born on the American frontier in Tennessee.

What I am interested in is asking if there is if the McKnight name, which is very common in the United States, is also common in England and Scotland?

I am also interested in trying to find information on the Clan McKnight. I have very little information on the Clan McKnight. From what I understand from the 1200's through the 1500's, we were part of the Clan MacNaughton. Then in the middle of the 1500's we became a separate Clan unto ourselves. Do you know any information about the history of the Clan McKnight?
