ALTRINCHAM UNITED REFORMED CHURCH

World War I & World War II

Rolls of Honour
& Books of Remembrance

Altrincham United Reformed Church has two places of worship, Trinity Hale, and Woodlands Timperley. They carry the records and traditions of the former churches that were active during World War I and World War II. They are: Hale Congregational Church (now Trinity Hale, AURC) Pepper Street Chapel, Mobberley (Closed mid 1980s) Trinity Bowdon Presbyterian Church and Trinity Mission (both sold for development). Broadheath Congregational Church (re-located in 1974, becoming Woodlands Timperley) The Rolls of Honour Boards for the first three are located at Trinity Hale, and the last is at Woodlands Timperley.
For each board there is a corresponding Book of Remembrance kept nearby for reference. The AURC church archivist, Jeremy Cocker has researched every one of these names so that we can know about who they were, and what they were like, and where they are buried. You may note that only Hale Congregational Memorial records some detail about their heroes' service rank in WW1. The War Graves Commision has always insisted on recording names only on their graves. Death is a great leveller of status.
